Sunkoshi River Rafting – 12 Days

Exploring the Sunkoshi River: A Rafting Adventure

Overview

The Sunkoshi River, a prominent part of Nepal’s Sapta Koshi river system, is renowned for its captivating beauty and thrilling rapids. Translating to “River of Gold,” the Sun Koshi flows eastward through a picturesque valley nestled between the Mahabharat range and the Himalayas. Originating from Tibet’s autonomous region in China, the river gains momentum as it merges with the Bhote Koshi at Barbesi.

Embarkation Point

Rafting expeditions along the Sunkoshi typically commence from Dolalghat. However, our journey begins at Dumjabesi, accessible via the Banepa Bardibas highway. As we set forth, expect to encounter a variety of water rapids, each presenting its own set of exhilarating challenges.

The Journey

As you navigate the Sunkoshi’s currents, you’ll be immersed in a world untouched by urbanization. Instead, the rhythmic flow of water accompanies breathtaking vistas of quaint villages and towering mountains cloaked in lush greenery. The warmth of local hospitality greets you as villagers offer friendly “Namaste” gestures and bid farewell with waves of goodwill.

Scenic Delights

Throughout the expedition, sandy beaches dot the riverbanks, offering ideal spots for camping and rejuvenation. Descending towards the river’s lower reaches, dense forests teem with wildlife, including playful monkeys and vibrant birdlife.

Experience and Progression

A hallmark of Sunkoshi River Rafting is its gradual progression in difficulty. Starting from relatively tranquil waters, the journey gradually intensifies, providing ample opportunities for beginners to hone their rafting skills. With each rapid conquered, participants embark on an exhilarating adventure, descending further into the heart of the river.

Embark on an unforgettable journey down the Sunkoshi River, where every bend promises excitement and discovery.
