Trekking Adventure: Exploring the Makalu Base Camp Trail
Day 1: Chamla Kharka to Tashi Gaun
Embarking on the Makalu Barun trek, renowned for its scenic beauty, our journey commenced from Chamla Kharka. Navigating the trail to Makalu Base Camp, we set off at 6 am, aiming to reach Seduwa as our first stop. After crossing the Arun river and indulging in a hearty dal-bhat meal, we ventured into the diverse landscape of Seduwa, a melting pot of ethnicities. Acquiring tickets for Makalu Barun National Park, we continued towards Tashi Gaun, our overnight halt.
En route, we traversed past Mane Gaun and Chakse Danda, encountering the remote trail shrouded in rain. Despite the challenging weather, we persevered, arriving at Tashi Gaun by 4 pm, our last settlement before venturing into the wilderness.
Day 2: Tashi Gaun to Khungma
Commencing another day’s journey at dawn, we navigated towards Danda Kharka en route to Khungma. Battling the persistent rain and encountering leeches along the way, we crossed swollen rivers and embraced the hospitality of Kipa Sherpa at her lodge in Danda Kharka. Continuing our trek amidst the breathtaking landscapes, we reached Khungma by late afternoon, welcomed by the tranquil surroundings and warm hospitality of Shiva Guest House.
Day 3: Khungma to Yangle Kharka
As the rain subsided, we embarked on the rugged trails towards Yangle Kharka.
