Embarking from Kathmandu, the trek unfolds its wonders with a drive to Sundarijal, followed by an ascent to Chisapani. The Helambu Circuit Trek traverses the Shivapuri and Langtang National Park, providing a rich canvas of rare birds, wildlife, and diverse flora. Enchanting villages such as Kutumsang, Tharepati, Melemchi Gaun, Tarkeghyang, Sermathang, and Melemchi Bazaar grace the route before the return journey to Kathmandu. Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu 🕑 20 minutes drive to the hotel

As you step out of the arrival terminal at the Tribhuvan International Airport, a marigold garland or a silk scarf called Khadak will be bestowed upon you by one of the representatives from Altitude Adventures. Subsequently, you will be chauffeured to your designated hotel in Thamel via a private vehicle. After completing the check-in procedures, take a moment to rest. If you arrive early, an introductory session about the trip will be held at our office or the hotel lobby. For late arrivals, the session will take place the next morning.

In the evening, Thamel beckons you to explore its vibrant tourist hub, where lively music, gastronomic delights, wanderers, and various activities provide a glimpse into the local lifestyle. Take a stroll and catch a glimpse of temple structures at Thaity, Shree: Gha, and other intriguing corners.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing & Trek Preparation 🕑 5-6 hrs

Kickstart the day with a hearty breakfast at your hotel as you prepare for a guided city sightseeing adventure. Today’s exploration includes UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Swayambhunath Stupa, Patan Durbar Square, Boudhanath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Stupa.

Begin with a visit to Swayambhunath, perched atop a hillock to the west of Thamel, known as the “Monkey Temple” for its abundance of monkeys. The journey continues to Patan, the city of festivals, feasts, art, and culture, where you’ll delve into the city’s art, history, cultural significance, and architectural craftsmanship.

Boudhanath, located northeast of Kathmandu, awaits as the next stop. This stupa, one of Nepal’s largest spherical stupas, attracts Buddhist and Hindu visitors year-round, creating a vivid atmosphere with aesthetic monks, prayer hymns, rolling Mani Wheels, and wafting incense sticks. Pashupatinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is another essential visit. While non-Hindus can’t enter the temple premises, you can capture the traditional cremation ceremony and temple from the opposite bank of the sacred Bagmati River.

After a day of exploration, return to your hotel, recharge, and organize your gear for the upcoming adventure.

Day 3: Drive to Sundarijal & Trek to Chisapani 🕑 1 hr drive & 5 hrs walk

Max Altitude: 2,295 m

Embark on a one-hour drive to Sundrijal after an early morning brunch. This serves as the starting point for our trek, situated in the foothills of the valley. The trek to Chisopani from Sundarijal takes approximately four to five hours, unveiling a small hydroelectric facility and the trail leading to Shivapuri National Park. Traverse through the first settlement, Mulkhara, inhabited by the Tamang people. Take a brief rest at the tea and snack stores before ascending over the ridge and venturing through dense woods of oaks and colorful rhododendrons (if in spring). The day concludes in Chisapani.

Day 4: Trek to Khutumsang 🕑 6-7 hrs

Max Altitude: 2,470 m

Following breakfast, set out towards Kutumsang, today’s destination. The gradual ascent through meadows and pastures offers breathtaking vistas of the Langtang Mountains. Pass through Pathi Bhanjyang and Gul Bhanjyang, ascend the hill, and reach another pass before descending to Khutumsang for the night.

Day 5: Trek to Tharepati 🕑 6-7 hrs

Max Altitude: 3,690 m

Journey north to the Himalayas, treated to stunning vistas of snow-capped peaks. Ascend on a steep trail through fir and rhododendron forests, passing Yurin Danda for spectacular Himalayan views. Reach Magen Goth for a pristine view of enticing peaks and massif, and continue through a dense forest to Tharepati, our shelter for today.

Day 6: Trek to Tarke Gyang 🕑 5-6 hrs

Max Altitude: 2,600 m

After breakfast, descend from the ridge through dense forest, terraced fields, and a tiny settlement, crossing streams and admiring the green vegetation. Arrive in Tarkegyang, Helambu’s largest village, home to the Sherpa lifestyle, culture, and two of the region’s oldest monasteries. Visit the ancient monastery, witness the cultural richness, and explore the village.

Day 7: Trek to Sermathang 🕑 3-4 hrs

Max Altitude: 2,590 m

Today’s hike is shorter and easier. Descend from Tarke Ghyang through dense forests, enjoying tranquil greenery and breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains. Reach Sermathang, a Sherpa village with views of the Jugal Himal, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, and Rolwaling ranges.

Day 8: Trek to Melamchi Pul Bazaar & Drive back to Kathmandu 🕑 3-4 hrs walk & 3-4 hrs drive

Descend from Shermanthang to Melamchi Pul Bazaar, passing lush forests, terraced agriculture, and tiny Sherpa communities. Stroll down the lovely valley to the Melamchi River and enjoy lunch in Melamchi Pul Bazaar before driving back to Kathmandu. Rest or explore the markets, and in the evening, savor a farewell dinner with traditional Nepali food and a cultural program.
